HOME / Our Tub Surround Process

How Your Surround Gets Rebuilt

Six steps, two to three days, one crew that cleans up after itself.

Small jobs deserve real process — most surround failures we tear out were skipped steps, not bad tile. Every WeHa Tub Studio surround in West Hartford follows the same six-step sequence, and you can check our work at step three before a single tile is set. If the waterproofing is not right, nothing after it matters, so we photograph it and show you.

West Hartford notes

In West Hartford steps 2–3 usually take day one and steps 4–5 take days two and three: West Hartford's vintage baths reward restraint: a pro regrout and color-seal can make 1940s tile look intentional again instead of tired. You can shower again 24 hours after grout — we will tell you the exact hour.

  1. Free measure & fixed quote. We measure, check the tub and valves, and price in writing.
  2. Protect & tear out. Floors and fixtures covered; old surround stripped to studs, hauled away.
  3. Inspect & waterproof. Studs treated if needed; cement board, membrane, sealed corners — photographed.
  4. Set tile. Layout agreed with you first; flat walls, plumb corners, even joints.
  5. Grout, seal & caulk. Grout, penetrating sealer, and fresh silicone at every change of plane.
  6. Walkthrough. We inspect with you, punch-list on the spot, and leave care instructions.

FAQ

Common questions

When can I shower after grouting?
About 24 hours for standard grout, sooner for rapid-set. We'll give you the exact hour at walkthrough.
Do you haul away the debris?
Yes — tear-out, packaging and old fixtures leave with us. Your curb never sees our mess.
Will there be dust in my house?
Tear-out day makes dust; we hang barriers, run containment, and clean between phases. Setting and grouting days are quiet hand work.
Do I need to be home?
For the measure and the walkthrough, yes. During work days many customers hand over a key — we're licensed, insured and tidy, and we lock up.
